ARTIST STATEMENT: the SIMPLE men bike across america

| In September 2011, my partner and I embarked on a 3,000-mile crosscountry bicycle tour from Portland, Oregon, to Savannah, Georgia. The journey allowed us to contemplate modern life and all of its intricacies. We questioned our beliefs, challenged other people’s ideas and got a better perspective of our fellow citizens. A surprising outcome of this trip was the renewal of our faith in humanity. As many people in our industrial society do, we were both moving fast and furious through life until we decided to take a moment and contemplate the world around us. The resulting body of work is a collection of photos and video from over a dozen states. The documentary is in post production and will be available soon.
